Ladies Auxiliary Newsletter
Greetings Ladies,
The July meeting was well attended. This was my first meeting as president and
I appreciate all the help I received before and during the meeting.
Commander, Mike Santure and Men's Auxiliary President, Dan Dusseau, both
spoke at our meeting. Mike Santure was presented with a POW/MIA flag for the
post. It was donated by Richard and Lorissa Elinski
The Auxilary voted to assist the Post in improvements with the parking lot.
April Killian sent out 25 cards this month. Kim Cousino sent out a box of
coupons to our soldiers and their families overseas.
Those who attend the Michigan Department VFW State Convention in June gave
reports. Grace Connolly received many Citations and two plaques for her
tireless work with Youth Activities.
LuAnne Duvall has PAC pins for sale for $5 each. They are beautiful again this
year with an eagle within a circle. See Dawn shock if your like to purchase one
or more for gifts.
The Michigan Department Ladies Auxiliary Summer Conference will take place July
29-Aug. 1. This conference will provide all officers with information pertaining to
their duties. I will be attending one day only, July 31. If you'd like to attend, please
give me a call at 734-847-6990, you can ride with me.
Lorissa Elinski reported that Autumn Fortner will be going to Camp Trotter this
year. Her name was drawn from a pool of others. This is my granddaughter.
Autumn's sister Lindsey, will also be attending. They will be attending July 19
through the 24th. They are thrilled about attending and I'm sure we'll hear a
report from their trip.
I have taken on the Publicity duties for this year. If any of you have anything
you'd like put in the newspaper, please give it to me.
Grace Connolly reported that the VFW, the Men's Auxiliary and the Ladies
Auxiliary will be providing three $300 scholarships available to children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren who are attending or will be attending
college in the fall. Applications are available in the Kennedy Room. Deadline
for the drawings is August 23.
Our audit was completed at this meeting.
Thank you Lola Santure for providing the lunch for after the meeting. A
birthday cake was served for Donna Cousino's special day. Thank you Diane
LaPlante for volunteering for the next meeting and to Virgina Gast for the
September meeting.
You may still need to pay your dues. If so, please send in regular membership
dues which includes cancer insurance. If you are a Life Member you just pay the
insurance which is $3.75.
