noon until 6 pm.

Plans are being made for upcoming events.  Comedy Night, Saturday, March 17 and

Sharon Grodi read two interesting articles from the Vietnam January/February
2012 newsletter.

Monroe County Opportunity Program has received funding to assist low income and
homeless Vets with housing.  Contact Kimberly Cooke at 734-241-2775 ext. 203.

The stretch of highway (M-188) that runs in front of the VFW National Home in
Eaton Rapids, Michigan, is named after Monroe County native Elgie Hanna who was
raised at the VFW National Home with his siblings.  He was the only alumni of the
VFW National Home to be killed in action in Vietnam.  He and his siblings were
sponsored there by the Erie VFW in the 1950’s when Elgie was six years old.  Elgie’s
name is one of those on the monument at Heck Park.

Ladies, let us all remember and keep in our hearts why we are working together
and why there is a VFW and it’s auxiliary.  Our next meeting will be held March 7,
2012.  If you’d like to attend but need a ride, please give me a call at 734-847-
6990.  Please visit our website at
