News from the Men’s Auxiliary Meeting – November 13, 2008
Due to vacations and illness we did not have enough Officers to hold a full
meeting. As we had a quorum, a short informal meeting was conducted and
several guests were welcomed.
Grace Connolly from the Ladies Auxiliary was present and asked for our help
with the Children’s Christmas Party. It will be held on December 6th. Dennis
Trease agreed to coordinate the parade (hopefully with John Mosley’s help).
Please volunteer to help if you can. The parade starts at 10:30am. There will
be more details at our next meeting.
Earl Gerard also spoke to us briefly. He mentioned that a revised set of rules
for the Kennedy Room has been posted on the bulletin board. Earl also asked
for our continued support in selling tickets for the Post’s February Gun Raffle.
See Mike Santure if you need tickets.
Robin Terry reported that fifteen Auxiliary members have received their shirts.
Any additional members that want a shirt will need to purchase their own shirt
and have the patch (provided by the Auxiliary) sewn on. If anyone wants to
order other Auxiliary items, see ‘Bird’ or go to www.vfwstore.org.
Our big fund raiser, the Fifth Annual Christmas Party, was discussed in some
detail. Frank Connolly has agreed to be the Chairman. Jim Dusseau will handle
the bar and John Conley will coordinate the food. The party is December 12th,
7:30pm to midnight. Canned beer, mix and food are provided, “BYOB”. The
music will be by “Whiskey Dunn”. Tickets are available from Frank and other
Aux members for $20.00. Call 848-4299. We will be decorating the hall on
December 5th, starting at 6:00pm. PLEASE come out and support this important
event. Our Auxiliary needs the help and support.
We voted to help out the Luna Pier Fire Dept by giving $25.00 as a door prize
for their Feather Party fund raiser.
We also welcomed a potential new member, Mike Ginther to the meeting.
Our December meeting will be a week earlier than usual, on the 4th at the Post
Hall. This gives us a little more time to finalize party details. Hope to see you
there.
Respectfully submitted,
Robin Terry,
Senior Vice President
